The Merit Badge Program combines Horseback or Pony Rides with a Horsemanship Mini-Lesson.  The outing will be a memorable experience for Scout Troops and Horse Enthusiasts of all ages and levels of ability.

The Mini-Lesson is a “Hands-On” learning session which builds confidence and knowledge around horses.

Safety and Handling

Care

Grooming

Saddling & Ride Preparation

Mounting and Dismounting

Reining Techniques

Posture, Hand, Leg & Voice Commands

Exercises and other areas of Horsemanship

The Horsemanship Mini-lesson is a half-hour in length and gives a broad overview of some of the topics mentioned above.  Combined with one of our Riding Packages, the group will have the opportunity to ride the ponies or horses and learn a little about them.
